Charlie Meeds, visiting artist in November

Charlie Meeds, former professor of art at Louisiana Tech University, presented an informal talk to WAG members. Working daily over several months, Charlie created over 100 small drawings with a variety of mark-making tools, including an electric toothbrush, sumi ink and twigs, bamboo sticks, and assorted odds and ends. In the photo above, he shows off his handmade horsehair brushes used to create many of the pieces. Each drawing is fresh and unique, holding a mystery of its own that can’t be duplicated.

  1. Charlie demonstrated his mark making yesterday and allowed us to try it out also. Loose, playful and creative gestures add to any art work.
